Rahmstorf is a climate scientist. So is Zeke Hausfather.

RCP8.5 is a global warming scenario at the top of the worst-case scenarios. It is not a model output – it is an input that says we burn coal faster than ever and burn up more fossil fuels than exist, faster than we can extract them (sort of). For that reason, even the IPCC says RCP8.5 is not within the realm of probability. It is not physically possible.

Rahmstorf asserts that RCP8.5 is now closest to reality of the various scenarios. Unfortunately, his assertion is false as pointed out by many other qualified individuals. No idea why he would throw out something like this, which is easily verified.
