Business: Aldi/Jobs for Humanity Job Posting

Jobs for Humanity announced it was partnering with Aldi to hire a diverse work force. A screen shot of the posting was then shared on social media:

When I see items on social media, I try to verify their accuracy and authenticity. This job posting really did occur on Jobs for Humanity’s LinkedIn page:

This job posting did say they would discriminate against white applicants unless they are gay or disabled. Shortly after this blew up on social media, Jobs for Humanity changed their page to say “No longer accepting applications” rather than deleting the post.

When you see trending social media memes it is wise to verify the accuracy of the meme. Sometimes – unlike this example – the meme is false, taken out of context (common), or misinterpreted.

In this case, Aldi (which operates both Aldi and Trader Joe’s stores in the U.S.) did indeed have this item appear online and consequently, this meme was true.
