Media: 500 journalists laid off in January
500 is a good start:
Over 500 journalists were laid off from news outlets in January, according to a new report released Thursday, as many organizations continue to struggle financially.
The layoffs reflect the grim state of the news business.

Reality – there are way too many journalists, way too much similar content, and way too many looking for a different, often scary and hysterical angle on things that are already well covered. The result is pretty awful “journalism”. Then there are the endless airheads writing travel stories for Insider.com – see my Part 1 and 2 posts to understand the problem there:

- Part 2: The myth that Americans can easily move abroad – Coldstreams Travel and Global Thinking
Bottom line – there are too many “writers” producing way too much fluffy garbage. The media needs to “right size” – badly.
