Media: One third of local news services to vanish by 2025

One-third of U.S. newspapers as of 2005 will be gone by 2024 (msn.com) Unfortunate but also predicted – many no longer deliver value. It’s not really an “investment problem” as presented in the story above. A big issue is their business model no longer works. The news activists now raise the call of “news deserts”, and turn to non-profit funding, and proposals for tax subsidies claiming that for profit news is necessary to fight disinformation (much of which comes from the pro news sites).
