Is “pretty privilege” real on social media? There are strong hints that it is a real issue. Some of it may come from how users select videos, which trains the “algorithm” in your likes, but others have said that the algorithms are intentionally designed to minimize views of videos with “non pretty” people.
Two appalling bad studies were widely shared by “experts” on social media. One was so bad, and its errors so obvious, that they only way they could have decided to share was to do so without having read even the abstract of the study.
A medical professional posted on Twitter that she can and will withhold care from patients based on her perception of the patient’s sex, race and political beliefs. By Monday, her hospital bio page displayed “Page not found”. Far too many engage in inappropriate emotional outbursts on social media that have led to severe consequences, including being fired from a job.
Zuckerburg’s ownership of Facebook and Instagram, billionaire Jack Dorsey’s prior control of Twitter, and Jeff Bezos’ ownership of The Washington Post are all okay – but Musk buying Twitter to open it up for free speech is bad. These arguments against Musk buying Twitter are not making a lot of sense.
Russian officials denounce the West while simultaneously sending their kids to universities and jet set lifestyles in Europe and the U.S. They pretend to believe their own propaganda that the West is evil.
It’s time for the annual “Happiest Country in the World” selection, which as always, is a Scandanavian country, since they use metrics that intentionally result in Scandanavian countries ranking high. The metrics, oddly enough, have nothing to do with anyone’s happiness! And every year, the media morons publish this ranking as if it is a meanginful news report. It’s not, the rankings are bogus.
