Rolling Stone is famous for horrendously bad reporting in of their most infamous reports (they had to settle the lawsuits – more here from NPR). Their own hired investigator trashed Rolling Stone. The same reporter at Rolling Stone was involved in another controversial case a few years earlier. The Rolling Stone editor covered for an ABC reporter accused of child abuse.
