Media: Sports Illustrated using AI to generate articles now

Considering how many sports articles are formulaic, is this a bad thing?

Sports Illustrated Published Articles by Fake, AI-Generated Writers (futurism.com)

Related: Popular Science, the long time magazine which had switched to a digital format, is now dumping the whole magazine and turning the web site into a content mill doing “science reporting”. That mean an activist news site that pumps out a zillion articles a day seeking ad clicks per viewer. Sad.

In the above article from Futurism, they noticed that the author is an AI creation, including the profile picture. I have been analyzing dozens of web site and going through their author bios – the overwhelming majority are AI generated. These “news” sites are using fraudulently author bios and photos – some are taken from stock photo agencies and others are AI created – and AI and outsourced to writers in very cheap countries to create their stores. In reality, they are 100% frauds – how can you trust a fake news site using fake authors to generate fake content?

WORSE – news.yahoo.com and MSN Start now routinely source very large numbers of stories to these fake news sites.

IT is, in fact, the end of journalism. Unable for the reader to know what is real and what is fake, I now assume 100% of the news I read is fake.

And then there are real stories, like one I read yesterday in the WaPo, co-authored by flake Taylor Lorenz, that was so bad and internally contradictory that it may as well been written by Chat GPT, which would have done a better job.
