Media: Climate Coverage Now – Media goes full propaganda

There is no longer a distinction between activists and journalists: Welcome to the Future of Climate Coverage, Where the Journalists Are the Activists

This is not how to do climate communications. As I have said repeatedly, provide facts and logic – and avoid use of propaganda methods. The latter harms your messaging to the point that many of us no longer believe anything in the media as being honest and objective. It’s  story telling, and now, all propaganda, all the time.

The above propaganda program came out of Columbia University’s School of Journalism. Columbia University has allowed its reputation to be trashed. That’s sad. My Dad’s Doctorate was from Columbia.

Columbia has deleted their original press release on Climate Coverage Now. They don’t want you to know how low they have fallen. But there is a copy in the Internet Archive: Climate Week NYC 2023 at Columbia Journalism School | Columbia Journalism School (archive.org)

Read that press release for yourself.

From the prior linked story:

‘former CBS News vice president Al Ortiz said, the press should “get over” their fears of advocating for one political party over another. Climate change is too urgent,’

Faux journalists can earn a Masters degree in Media Advocacy – literally a degree in journalistic propaganda methods:

The Master of Science in Media Advocacy enhances students’ abilities to lead and contribute to mission-advancing efforts for a wide variety of organizations—from advocacy and lobbying organizations, trade and labor groups, and nonprofit entities, to strategic communication and government affairs departments. Created through a collaboration between Northeastern University’s School of Journalism and School of Law, the degree uniquely combines foundations in governmental structures and the legal system with sophisticated training in the latest communication techniques. These include social media, web communications and videography, as well as data analytics and data-driven storytelling.

“News”, “Journalism”, “Reporting” is political advocacy masquerading as objective, impartial reporting – journalism is not objective, impartial nor is it reporting. It’s story telling by people with BA’s in English literature, creative writing and history., advocating for their own interests and biases.  They see themselves as an elite who are smarter than you (but they are not) who are authorized tell the rest of us how to lead our lives (while frequently ignoring their own mandates).
