Media: Misleading headlines to lead you to an incorrect conclusion

The majority of news stories shared on social media are shared based on reading only the headline – and not reading the linked story.

Here are the headlines – how do you interpret these headlines in 2023?

In case you were thinking this was due to the SCOTUS ruling on abortion –> The SCOTUS ruling on abortion occurred almost 2 years after this abortion took place.

“She was charged instead with “concealing or abandoning a dead body.”

She burned the body. Dug it up a couple of times.

She plead guilty, and “acknowledged” making poor choices, and as a result, they dropped charges of concealing a death and making a false report. She was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail, plus probation, and will probably be released after 53 days.

A very sad story for all parties.

An accurate headline
