TikTok blocks Russians from live streaming on TikTok due to Russia passing a law that criminalizes “fake news” – which is determined by the Russian government as pretty much anything that they disagree with or which makes Russia look bad, even if true.

The US government is now demanding tech companies provide information to the government on how they handled “misinformation”. This is leading towards government intimidation for censorship via proxy – literally to have tech companies act as censors. The problem is: Who gets to define “misinformation”? The image graphic here illustrates a prime example. I have hundreds of such examples that highlight what was once “mainstream” is now branded “misinformation” – even when the underlying science did not change.
Reddit blocks all links to Russian-state propaganda media outlets. Other social media platforms have put in place other restrictions.
