The US Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin, yesterday, saying that anyone engaged in “(1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions; ” is a terrorist. This claim from DHS is a direct violation of the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment.
By my noting this here, this blog is now, apparently, an official terrorist blog. Wow.
…”the more negative-slanting comments a story drew, the more likely Facebook’s algorithms were to promote it widely.”
Academic research confirms the media’s obsession with “missing white women” (specifically, young, blonde, blue eyed women). When someone goes missing, coverage is extreme for missing young white women, drops significantly for missing women of color, and is almost non-existent for men, with coverage of missing white men receiving the least amount of press.
The news media has gone in to overdrive to refer to Ivermectin as a veterinary drug for horses and cattle, not people. In fact, like many drugs, it is approved for use in both humans and animals for certain conditions. In fact, the inventor of Ivermectin received the 2015 Nobel Prize in medicine for this drugs use in fighting tropical diseases.
But here we are: numerous media outlets say people are taking a “horse de-wormer” or a drug for livestock animals and denying that the drug is approved for use in humans, for certain conditions (but not as a viral treatment). The media has gone full scale propaganda mode on this.
Note – Ivermectin has not been approved for use in treat Covid-19. Veterinary ivermectin is provided in doses appropriate to animals, not humans, and using it on humans can cause serious illness, including hospitalization. A far better and lower risk way to address Covid-19 in humans is to get vaccinated. You should get vaccinated if you can do so. This post is not about whether Ivermectin works or does not work, but is about the media coverage that lies through omission of facts.
