Most journalism in the U.S. today is “yellow journalism” that focuses on scandal, celebrity, “crisis”, the oppressed and fear and the prophets of doom – via scary headlines, and sample bias to cover stories that fit the yellow journalism narratives. Today, the most over used word in media is “crisis” – as you’ll see in this post, today, everything is a “crisis”.
It’s time again for the annual “World’s Happiest Country” bull shit survey results. Using a survey that doesn’t measure happiness, the survey proclaims – every year – the same Nordic countries as the world’s happiest. That’s because the metrics they use define happiness as living in a Nordic country! But again, don’t measure anyone’s happiness. And every year, the media twits fall for this survey.
Why does everyone lie? Because it is effective and easy to get away with it, even when prominent people and organizations tell obvious grand lies. We have been trained not to question, not to think critically, and not to think for ourselves. Thinking for yourself is double-bad wrong think and should be punished.
A reporter named David Axe writes the same, scary, fear-inducing “worst Covid variant yet” headline story nearly every month the past year. He’s been wrong every time. But his editors don’t seem to mind.
Reporter completely screws the story. Never, ever leave a reporter or editor in a room, alone, with a number.
Two appalling bad studies were widely shared by “experts” on social media. One was so bad, and its errors so obvious, that they only way they could have decided to share was to do so without having read even the abstract of the study.

Reporter asserts all Covid deaths in the U.S. were preventable. My pointing out that Covid was not controlled anywhere in the world (having accurate data collection and reporting), and my pointing out that 27 other countries had worse outcomes than the U.S. is “denying that the deaths were preventable”. Therefore, you are cautioned that my inconvenient questions and observations are official disinformation, as determined by the Associated Press. Also, remember Betteridge’s Law – any headline that ends in a question mark means the story is bull shit.
It’s time for the annual “Happiest Country in the World” selection, which as always, is a Scandanavian country, since they use metrics that intentionally result in Scandanavian countries ranking high. The metrics, oddly enough, have nothing to do with anyone’s happiness! And every year, the media morons publish this ranking as if it is a meanginful news report. It’s not, the rankings are bogus.
