#Facebook bans posting of Declaration of Independence

#Facebook bans posting of Declaration of Independence

Really. A small newspaper in Texas was posting excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, leading up to the 4th of July. Until Facebook tagged their posts as offensive hate speech. Seriously. History, especially the ugly parts, will be removed, just like in George Orwell’s 1984. We don’t need to burn books anymore, as in Farenheit 451. Now we just delete the electronic copies. History, gone in a flash! Source: Facebook Algorithm Flags, Removes Declaration of Independence Text as Hate Speech…

Part 7: We should all be like Denmark, remember?

Occupy Democrats is an online, social media-based, for profit publisher of emotion laden political propaganda posters targeting those who view themselves as left wing. In 2016, Occupy Democrats used social media to distribute this propaganda through shares and likes. Every claim on this widely distributed and shared poster is essentially false – or two that are highly misleading at best (see links below for excruciating details.) Note their last item: SHARE if America should follow their lead! Occupy Democrats wants…

Should professors have more free speech rights than others?

Should professors have more free speech rights than others?

If we engaged in widely publicized hateful or hurtful or vile speech, our employers would likely begin job termination procedures within 24 hours regardless of whether we made such comments in a private capacity or not. As the NY Times notes, “Speaking Freely About Politics Can Cost You Your Job“. Private sector workers ‘ “…don’t have the right to speak freely in the workplace.” Or even outside it.’ Unlike public sector workers: “… anyone who works for a government office,…

State of Oregon begins censoring historical re-enactments, largely due to social media propaganda efforts

Civil War re-enactment will relocate from Fort Stevens State Park after 27 years from The Daily Astorian Fort Stevens is the site of an actual Civil War fortress, whose construction began in 1863 to protect the Columbia River from a feared attack by the Confederacy. For 27 years, this fortress was the site of an annual (and very large) Civil War history and education program held every Labor Day weekend. As the news report explains, Oregon State Parks is taking…

Tesla really did say this in 1926

Tesla really did say this in 1926

This poster came across on Twitter – and surprise – the quote is authentic! Surprisingly (for social media memes!) Tesla really did say this in an interview published in Colliers on January 30th, 1926. This forecast for the future is intriguing and certainly his brilliance comes through. But … the same interview had a number of other predictions – some correct and some not so correct: Tesla invented our modern day alternating current electrical system (versus the competing direct current…

How Twitter’s shadow banning system works

How Twitter’s shadow banning system works

Here is some insight in to how Twitter’s shadow banning algorithm’s may be operating. In addition to their “machine learning” (a good but significantly over-hyped technology) scanning of messages, their algorithms take in to account user reports, and the muting or blocking of accounts to decide if individual tweets or accounts should be shadow banned. The user that is shadow banned is not notified of the ban. Once shadow banned, one’s Tweets may not show up in some follower’s Twitter…

See here. On Instagram, if you use the same hash tags too often, Instagram shadow bans your account because they can. Instagram is owned and operated by Facebook, which also shadow bans posts. It looks like all online platforms engage in shadow banning.

Was I “shadow banned” by Twitter? #shadowbanned

Was I “shadow banned” by Twitter? #shadowbanned

For a little over a month last fall, I ramped up my daily use of Twitter. During that time, I posted many screen snapshots of actual price quotes from HealthCare.gov. For 4 weeks, I did not see a single new follower to my Twitter feed. It was as if my account had vanished. Not one additional follower for 4 weeks. With the news that Twitter actively censors political or policy speech that Twitter disagrees with, it seems likely that Twitter shadow…
