Media miss: Covid-19 vaccinations
Why some Oregonians are being turned away for COVID-19 vaccines – oregonlive.com
Facts
From Microsoft Co-Pilot AI, in terms of the United States as a whole:
In 2024, approximately 13% of U.S. adults aged 18–49 received a COVID-19 vaccination shot, according to CDC data from the National Immunization Survey–Adult COVID Module.
Only about 10% of children up through age 17 were vaccinated in 2024. We do not see higher adoption until age 65+ – where rates are in the 40-50% range.
Several west coast states have formed their own vaccine recommendations group – these states have poor vaccine adoption already.
- In Hawaii, 15% of adults were vaccinated for Covid in 2024, and 10% of children received a Covid vaccination. 6% of age 18-49, 17% age 50-64, 34% age 65+
- In WA, just 10% of children 6 months through age 17 obtained a Covid vaccination, and 21.6% of adults obtained a Covid vaccination in 2024. 12% age 18-49, 20% age 50-64, 48% age 65+
- In OR, 10% of children, 13% age 18-49, 21% age 18-49, 48% age 65+.
This information is important to understanding whether new CDC recommendations are meaningful or not meaningful. Now, with regional recommendations – CDC recommendations – WHO recommendations – and other countries recommendations in disagreement with one another, we have the “dueling expert” problem. The public no longer has any idea who is correct or helpful – which leads to distrust and loss of confidence in “experts”.
In fact, the US guidelines now agree with the guidelines from nearly all major countries in the world.
