Journalism: USA Today misreports on Oregon, even miscounts the number of Counties
- USA Today reports that 26 of 29 counties in Oregon have re-opened. Every part of that report is wrong. Oregon has 36 counties – several of which have no reported cases of Covid-19. 29 counties have reported cases. USA Today apparently assumed all counties in Oregon had cases, and therefore, assumed that there are 29 counties. That’s crappy journalism.
- As of May 14, 2020, 31 of the state’s 36 counties were approved for re-opening, not the 26 falsely reported by USA Today. By the June 13th date of USA Today’s fiction news report, 33 of the state’s counties had re-opened.
- As of June 18th (when their text, below, was updated) 33 counties have re-opened, and the remaining 3 were approved for re-opening.
This. Is. Journalism. Where essentially all of the easily cross checked facts – are wrong.
