In practice: Transgender day of Remembrance

Yesterday was the now annual day. Except it is not quite what they say it is: Portland Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil honors lives lost to violence – oregonlive.com

Fortunately, few transgender people have lost their lives due to being transgender – see Journalism: How the media reports on murders of the transgendered – and how it conflicts with the data

Using data from GLAAD and HRC, the murder rate of transgender individuals is between 1/4th and 1/2th that of the murder rate of the U.S. population. Other analysts found this too.

There is evidence (not shown here) that many of those who were murdered were murdered for other reasons.
