2012 Obama campaign sucked up Facebook personal data

A former Obama campaign official says Facebook let them scoop up lots of personal data information from Facebook in 2012.
She is now Senior VP at comScore, where she was previously VP of Political Technology. Previously, she was Director, Integration & Media Analytics for the Obama for America campaign.
The story was covered by Time Magazine in 2012, noting

more than 1 million Obama backers who signed up for the app gave the campaign permission to look at their Facebook friend lists. In an instant, the campaign had a way to see the hidden young voters. Roughly 85% of those without a listed phone number could be found in the uploaded friend lists. What’s more, Facebook offered an ideal way to reach them. “People don’t trust campaigns. They don’t even trust media organizations,” says Goff. “Who do they trust? Their friends.”

Facebook is a surveillance and propaganda business. It has no other function.
And its not just for advertising products and services. Facebook is about mass control of entire populations through its ability to play a key role in who gets “elected” to office. I put “elected” in quotes because the fairness of elections comes into question when powerful forces exert powerful manipulation techniques on society.
