If you use the Chrome browser, you can add an extension called “B.S. Detector” that checks links to “news” for authenticity.
To set it up, click on the 3 vertical dots at upper right of the Chrome browser and then choose Settings. At the Settings change, click on “Extensions” near the upper left.
On the Extensions page, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on “Get more extensions”.
At the Chrome Web Store, search for B.S. Detector, and install that extension in to Chrome.
Thereafter, alerts display in a pink colored box, prior to a suspicious source. Suspicious means the linked web site appears on a published list of web publishers that are known to publish content that is false, exaggerated, intended as satire or parody or has a history of publishing fake news. The alert does not mean the specific linked article is false or exaggerated – the intent is to alert you to content that is potentially untrue.
